Once upon a time my writing mentor suggested I ask a main character in my story what pieces of clothing he/she likes to wear. The characters’ clothes play very important role to communicate their personality in all forms of writing as well as onscreen and stage acting. Costumes also help actors to convey character’s unique identity, social status, cultural background and mood. When I commit to writing, I experience all sense of wonder of an imaginary world story that reveals itself to me.

I am developing a script based on stories duly taken down from oral recitation about the life of main character and transcribed into the rare books and manuscripts. The archival sources spark my imagination and offer unique way to experience time travel into the world that existed in east-central France in the early XIX century.

The manuscript is about a young girl witnessing and struggling against a series of escalating events as a result of Stalin’s campaign of genocide by starvation initiated in autumn of 1932. Famers of the Ukrainian countryside are forced to decide whether they will be able to maintain the ownership of their property or join the government forced collective farms. It is based on true stories collected by my friend, who taught English in Ukraine.

Character driven documentaries that explore the lives and feelings of women and young girls forced to flee their homes due to armed conflicts or other forms of violence. “Crossing Desert and Sea” portrays characters from different socio-economical, cultural and religious backgrounds. It aims to become a platform for women and girl’s voices to express their pain and dreams through the medium of various forms of artworks. The documentary “Children of the Rising Phoenix” follows Syrian refugees living in Orange County, CA. The climax of the documentary finds the characters gathered in a home setting, creating works of art by using their own blood, as a medium for expressing their feelings on canvas.

Do Women Need Female Superhero Characters to Be Empowered?

“When Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon wearing his spacesuit and looking like a robot, he started to delineate the era of robot culture…which had also influence on women’s fashion…in the begging of the 80s women’s shoulders silhouette was changing. Large padded jackets empowered women to express themselves in the professional worlds that at that time were mainly dominated by male society.”

The interview on the impact of technology on fashion, cinema and social change with Stefano Dominella, the President of UNINDUSTRIA Association and Maison Gattinoni in Rome, is featured in Global Fashion Lawyer Magazine of the Beverly Hills Bar Association.

Adapted screenplays or stage plays based on a real-life fascinating courtroom drama and developed for film or live performances require ability to balance drama with truth. For this panel I invited Don Burris, Esq., who was involved in the landmark case of Republic of Austria v. Altmann, to share insights into behind-the-scenes representation of Altman and the production of WOMAN IN GOLD starring Helen Mirren as Maria Altmann, who successfully reclaimed her family paintings.

Did you know? The proposal to remove Tiffany’s mural Dream Garden from the lobby of Curtis Center mobilized Philadelphia’s community engagement efforts in one of the most contentious preservation battles. The mural was constructed as a glass-mosaic of over hundred thousand pieces of “handmade” glass by Tiffany’s New York Studios in 1916. The battle was worth the price since to this Day Dream Garden can be viewed free of charge.

Doctoral Dissertation in Canon Law

It highlights the roles people play in society to launch new diplomatic dialogue and affect legal changes. One chapter examines the Vatican Diplomacy and how the 1974 Italian divorce referendum, which allowed the divorce law to remain in force, made obsolete some norms of the 1929 Lateran Treaty. In 1984 new Agreement between the Holy See and the Italian Republic was signed and ratified in the light of both evolving norms on enforcement of foreign judgments in Italy as well as within the Church, which culminated in the promulgation of the new Code of Canon Law.
